Friday has come around too soon. The final visits took place this morning and included a visit to what is considered possibly the biggest advertising agency in the world, J. Walter Thompson. Six students showed their work to three art buyers, Sara Levi, Kelley Ramsey , and Bianca Escobar . They were very positive about the use of illustration within advertising and gave great advice regarding how to break in to the industry. Very inspirational.
Shortly after that I happened to bump into another advertising creative in Starbucks, Jack Anesh from ‘Flying. Machine’. Again great stories from a slightly different era of advertising and a good contact for next year’s trip.
With time running down before we catch the coach transfer a few of us managed to squeeze in a visit to the Student awards Exhibition at The Society of Illustrators. The SOI is a must see venue if you are an illustrator visiting New York. Falmouth Illustration has had a long association with it since we first visited 15-16 years ago. The American students work was of a very high standard this year. Noticeably stronger I feel than in recent years.
anyway this is probably the last posting from New York.
More photos will posted when we get back to Falmouth……
