A Celebration of Falmouth Graduate’s Successes in Childrens’ Publishing

Last Wednesday saw our students, alumni and staff celebrating the successes of our recent graduates in the field of publishing for young audiences. Falmouth alumni whose books were on sale during the evening included amongst others:

Levi Pinfold (Kate Greenaway Medal winner)
Rebecca Cobb (Shortlisted for The Kate Greenaway Medal)
Emma Yarlett (Longlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal)
Owen Davey  (Laika, Foxley’s Feast…)

The event was organised by Mark Foreman and Keryn Bibby and we are extremely grateful to the Falmouth Bookseller (Falmouth’s very own award winning book shop) and Ron Johns for hosting us for the evening. Those that attended included Emma Yarlett, Sophia Matthew (art director at Oxford University Press, and our new external assessor Peter Lloyd from Southampton Solent University. We hope very much that this will be the first of many joint events at this great bookshop…

Falmouth Illustration’s 1st & 2nd year students exhibit their work

Last week saw the private view of our 1st & 2nd year exhibition. This show coincides with the main degree show and is held at the Wellington Terrace Site in Falmouth. It is an opportunity for students to showcase the work that they have been producing throughout the year. Students and staff had been working hard on the Sunday to get the work up and the show looked fantastic. The private view was well attended and gave a real insight into diversity of projects undertaken by  levels 1 & 2. The work was of a really good standard and it was great to see students really beginning stretch themselves both in terms of the development of their visual language but also their approach to visual problem solving. Many thanks to Natalie and Sue and all the staff and students that were involved.
