Falmouth Illustration Alumni Successes

Here is a quick post to let you all know (if you don’t already) of a number of significant success stories for Falmouth Illustration alumni;
Will Grill has recently been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal for his highly acclaimed book
‘Shackleton’s Journey’ Flying Eye Books. Other artists shortlisted this year include: Laura Carlin, Alexis Deacon, Chris Riddell, David Roberts, and Shaun Tan. Will follows hot on the heals of other Kate Greenaway Medal shortlisted from The Falmouth BA Illustration course, Rebecca Cobb and the 2013 winner Levi Pinfold
Three ex falmouth students have been chosen to represent the best of British Children’s book illustration at the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava (or BIB for short) 2015. Once again Will Grill Shackleton’s Journey) is amongst the Falmouth contingent alongside former Kate Greenaway winner Levi Pinfold (Black Dog), and Viviene Schwarz (I am Henry Finch) http://www.theguardian.com/childrens-books-site/gallery/2015/may/15/bratislava-bib-childrens-illustration-awards-2015
Well done to former Falmouth Illustration student Emma Yarlett, who has won the 4-7 year old category of the English Association Picture Book Awards 2015 for her book, ‘Orion & the Dark’. Not surprisingly, Will Grill won the 7-11 category for ‘Shackleton’s Journey’!
A number of former Falmouth Illustration students have recently been working with Nobrow Books /Flying Eye Books. They include:
‘Hungry Roscoe’, by David Plant
‘Mad about Monkeys’, by Owen Davey (coming out very soon)
‘One Day on our planet’, by Ella Bailey
‘Imelda and the goblin King’, by Briony Smith (coming out very soon)
